Association of Nigeria Universities Alumni has urged the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) to shift grounds on the ongoing indefinite strike embarked upon by the ASUU members.
ANUA made the appeal in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Ibadan on the registration of the association jointly signed by Mohammed Wada Sani (Gonna Katagum) and Dr Stephen Olawale Fasakin.
According to the statement, “the shifting of ground by the two warring parties will give room for the commencement of normal academic calendar in all the Universities.
“We use this medium to appeal to the Federal government and ASUU to shift ground so that normal academic calendar can resume in our Universities”, it said.
The statement stressed that the association have been duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as the Association of Nigeria Universities Alumni.
“The aims and objectives of our dear ANUA include the promotion of Universities research and careers partnering in Nigeria public service at all levels, enlightenment about the values of the alumni association, its significance and services, reward diligence, exceptional career pursuit and productivity quotient of Nigerian graduates: guide and help alumni associations to find ideas and resources on global university rating, promote raising funds for university programmes, champion government disinvestment and alumni association take over of Universities and promote responsible accountability leadership by Nigerian graduates”.
The statement then charged the remaining Alumni associations of Nigerian Universities that are yet to join the body to join the association, saying, “together, we shall build an enviable and desired alumni community”.
